Nintendo Direct to held on April 2

Nintendo has officially revealed the successor to the Nintendo Switch, called the Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement was made through an unexpected video release, with no prior promotion or hype from Nintendo.
The trailer didn’t reveal much, aside from the fact that a Nintendo Direct focused on the new console is scheduled in a few months.
Nintendo Switch 2 Features
The Nintendo Switch 2 retains the same tablet-plus-Joycons design as the original Switch, though there are a few hardware changes. Leaks confirmed that the Switch 2 has two USB-C ports: one at the bottom for docking and another on top for charging. The Joy-Cons now slide into the sides of the tablet rather than the top and are secured by magnets, which can be released with a lever at the back. This design makes it easier to remove the Joy-Cons from a docked console without accidentally lifting it out of the dock.
Additionally, Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with existing Switch games.
Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date
The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch in 2025, though an exact date hasn’t been provided.
Nintendo Switch 2 Confirmed Games
In the reveal trailer, Nintendo didn’t showcase many games, except for a new Mario Kart title, which looks similar to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe but with a brand-new map.
Nintendo Switch 2 Direct Date
Nintendo will hold a special Nintendo Direct for the Switch 2 on April 2, 2025.
